times

We will establish the day and time of lessons, duration of lesons and frequency of lessons.

Exam fees

Should you consider doing exams, this can be arranged direct with the teacher and fees for attendance will be agreed at that time. The fees will cover: teacher attendance as required, rehearsal(s) before an exam and travel time/fuel. This sum will not include aural or sight reading rehearsals.

Students who have a violin exam will need to be accompanied on the piano. Where the teacher needs to practice more in preparation for the exam and then accompany the student on the day of the exam, there will be increase charge for the exam fee.

Piano accompaniment fees for instrumental exams:

£40 (Grades 1-4)        £50  (Grades 5-6)         £60 (Grades 7-8)

There are fees which will need to be paid to the exam board (such as ABRSM).

 Fees

Lessons will be charged at the rate of £ 39 per hour (£19.50 per 30 min). Lesson fees are payable 6 weeks in advance; the provision of tuition is conditional upon prompt payment of these fees. The number of lessons planned for the term will be stated on the invoice. All the lessons must be paid by the due date or else lessons may be discontinued. Any increase in fees will be notified in writing before the increase takes place.

Academic success

Limitation of Liability

While the Tutor will endeavour to ensure the Student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and the Tutor cannot be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the Student. To the maximum extent permitted by the law, the Tutor accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Tutor’s services or any errors or omissions in the content of the Tutor’s learning materials.

Cancellations

Illness/Other absences

Lesson fees cannot be refunded for illness, or missed, cancelled or forgotten lessons. As with fee paying schools and other courses, the time slot you pay for is reserved for you and all the expenses that are included into fees still have to be covered so it will not possible to reschedule lessons. However, catch up lessons will be offered, subject to the receipt of at least two weeks’ prior notice.

Tutor absence

Should the Tutor miss a lesson due to her illness or any other reason, she will make every attempt to reschedule a missed lesson (in addition to the regular lessons) for the benefit of student’s learning. The lesson(s) will be rearranged for the time mutually convenient for both Student and Tutor.

termination of lessons

Lessons will continue until a mutually agreed termination date. The Tutor and the Student (or the Student’s Parent/ Guardian) reserve the right to cancel the contract within 14 days of its being agreed and terminate lessons should they no longer be considered beneficial to the Student. If you wish to discontinue lessons, one week notice must be given in writing.
